In den letzten 200 Jahren hat sich der Alpenstaat ueber seine Landesgrenzen hinaus verbreitet – und damit auch sein Logo. Das weisse Kreuz auf rotem Hintergrund stiftet in den entlegensten Winkeln der Erde Identitaet: Von der brasilianischen Stadt Nova Friburgo, ueber die Siedlung New Glarus in Wisconsin, bis hin zu Uebersee-Zweigstellen von Global Playern wie Swissotel. Losgeloest vom Logo, zirkuliert die Marke Schweiz auch als Zustand: Bis in die 1950er Jahre genoss Uruguay einen oekonomischen Sonderstatus in seiner Region und wurde folglich als die “Schweiz Suedamerikas” gehandelt, waehrend in den 1990ern Singapur und Malaysien um die Position “Schweiz Asiens” rangen. Swiss etc. rueckt dieses vielschichtige Phaenomen in den Diskurs um den Post-Nation State. Zunaechst wird das Staatsmodell der Schweiz auf seinen globalen Status hin untersucht, dann im Theorie-Teil des Readers abstrahiert und schliesslich als Muster ueber den gesamten Erdball verfolgt – von Satellitenstaaten bis hin zu Special Economic Zones. Konstrukte nationaler Territorien, Stadtmodelle, Architektur und private Interieurs werden dabei ebenso ausgelotet, wie die fiktiven Bild- und Illusionsräume des Ichs. Gefragt wird nach den Selbst- und Weltbildern, die sich in diesen Räumen widerspiegeln.
